He served as secretary to General Schuyler during the American Revolution and later was a member of the Continental Congress; he was also a member of the New York State Assembly and a justice of the New York Supreme Court from 1790 to 1798 as well as the Chief Justice from 1798 to 1801. He also was a Regent for the University of the State of New York from 1817 to 1829. Lansing mysteriously disappeared in 1829 at one of the docks in New York City." |
