dcterms:description "The present paper deals with the taxonomy of the section Lasiotrachyphylla Bernh. (syn. Scapiflora Reichenbach) of the genus Papaver L. in Northern America and their relations to taxa of other areas of the section based on geographical‐morphological studies of herbarium specimens. The studies result in the division of P. macounii GREENE into subsp. macounii (with 2n = 28 chromosomes) mainly growing on islands of the Bering region and subsp. discolor (Hult.) Rändel stat. nov. (with 2n = 70 chromosomes) frequent in NE Asia and NW Northern America. ‐ P. nudicaule L. subsp. americanum Rändel subsp. nov. is described from NW Northern America. ‐ The hexaploid P. hultenii (2n = 42) sensu Knaben is recognized as a chromosomic race of the octoploid P. lapponicum (Tolm.) Nordh. (2n = 56). ‐ The hexaploid P. alaskanum Hult. from the Aleutian Islands and NW Northern America is closely related to the octoploid P. lapponicum and particularly not different from it. ‐ P. microcarpum DC. var. xanthopeta2urn var. nov. is described from NE Asia. ‐ P. McConnellii Hult. from NW Northern America (Mackenzie district) shows morphological relations to diploid taxa from Eurasia resp. the Rocky Mountains. In NW Northern America a relative diversity of the taxa exists. The most taxa in this area are closely related to taxa of the islands in the Bering region and NE Asia. NW Northern America, NE Asia and the islands of the Bering region are recognized as rests of a center of diversity of the section Lasiotrachyphylla. From here a dispersal of many taxa probably has taken place. NE Northern America and the Canadian Archipelago are characterized by a relative uniformity of the taxa without remarkable morphological differentia between them and by a high polyploidy. The specimens belong to P. lapponicum (Tolm.) Nordh. (2n = 66 chromosomes) and P. radicatum Rottb. subsp. dahlianum (Nordh.) Rändel (2n = 70 and 84 chromosomes). They are closely related to the high polyploid taxa of Greenland and the arctic Eurasia. Probably they have been migrated from the arctic Eurasia by a land bridge over the Atlantic Ocean towards Greenland and arctic Northern America."@de,
"Abstract: Die vorliegende Arbeit behandelt die Sippenstruktur und Klassifikation von Vertretern der Sektion Lasiotrachyphylla Bernh. (syn. Scapiflora Reichenb.) der Gattung Papaver L. in Nordamerika und ihre Beziehungen zu Sippen anderer Arealteile der Sektion auf der Grundlage vergleichend geographisch‐morphologischer Untersuchungen von Herbarmaterial. Im Ergebnis der Bearbeitung führte der morphologisch‐geographische Vergleich und seine klassifikatorische Bewertung zur Gliederung von P. macounii Greene in die Subspezies macounii (2n = 28), die hauptsächlich auf einigen Inseln im Beringia‐Gebiet vorkommt, und in die Subspezies discolor (Hult.) Rändel stat. nov. (2n = 70), die in Nordost‐Asien und in Nordwest‐Nordamerika weit verbreitet ist. — P. hultenii sensu Knaben (2n = 42) wird als hexaploide Chromosomenrasse dem oktoploiden P. lapponicum (Tolm.) Nordh. (2n = 56) angeschlossen. — P. alaskanum Hult. (2n = 42) von den Aleuten‐Inseln und Nordwest‐Nordamerika steht P. lapponicum sehr nahe und ist morphologisch teilweise von ihm nicht zu unterscheiden. — P. alaskanum var. macranthum sensu Hultén ist morphologisch identisch mit P. macounii. subsp. macounii. — P. nudicaule L. subsp. americanum Rändel subsp. nov. wird aus dem nordwestlichen Nordamerika beschrieben. — Aus Nordost‐Asien wird P. microcarpum DC. var. xanthopetalum Rändel var. nov. beschrieben. — P. McConnellii Hult. aus Nordwest‐Nordamerika (Mackenzie‐Distrikt) ist morphologisch diploiden Vertretern der Rocky Mountains bzw. Eurasiens genähert. In Nordwest‐Nordamerika liegt eine relative Sippenmannigfaltigkeit vor. Die nordwestnordamerikanischen, nieder‐ oder höherploiden Sippen haben enge morphologische Beziehungen zu den Vertretern der Inseln des Beringia‐Gebietes und Nordost‐Asiens. Nordwest‐Nordamerika, die Inseln im Beringia‐Gebiet und Nordost‐Asien werden als Reste eines Mannigfaltigkeitszentrums der Sektion Lasiotrachyphylla angesehen, aus welchem vermutlich die Ausbreitung vieler Sippen erfolgte. Nordost‐Nordamerika und die Region des kanadischen Archipels werden durch eine relative Einförmigkeit des Sippenbestandes ohne deutlich erkennbare morphologische Grenzen zueinander charakterisiert. Die stets hochpolyploiden Vertreter, die P. lapponicum (Tolm.) Nordh. (2n = 56) und P. radicatum Rottb. subsp. dahlianum (Nordh.) Rändel (2n = 70, 84) zugeordnet werden, stehen den arktisch‐eurasiatischen Vertretern am nächsten. Sie sind vermutlich aus Europa über eine Landbrücke über den Atlantik nach Gr¨︁onland und dem arktischen Nordamerika eingewandert."@de;
